Volume rendering accuracy improved on datasets containing uniform regions
24 Sep 2021It is common for volume data to contain significant regions where data is uniform, for example, in undefined regions. Thermo Scientific™ Open Inventor™ allows uniform tiles to be stored in memory as a single value to optimize memory usage. This optimization enables much more high-resolution data to fit in memory. Until now, this optimization was only available for CPU memory.
Open Inventor 10.10 lifts this limitation as now uniform tiles can also be represented with a single value in GPU memory, allowing much more data to fit in GPU memory.
