High quality rendering in Virtual Reality environments

22 May 2017

Today, the Virtual Reality market is expending exponentially with the release of new devices, the raise of humongous investments and the creation of many VR companies. New ideas, developments, innovations are taking part of this trend, and the Open Inventor software development toolkit is playing an active role by enabling its users to bring their high quality rendering in virtual reality environments.

Scientist and doctors are used to visualizing data on a computer monitor, aspiring to get more from their data and understand better their content. Our personal hardware can now open new doors to data visualization as its performance drastically increases over time. Virtual Reality is all about improving user experience on his data through visualization and manipulation. The two major Head Mounted Displays which are currently predominant on the market are HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. They both include a headset for immersive visualization, sensors for user displacement detection, and controllers for manipulation. In parallel, Open Inventor provides high quality rendering and high level generic objects to develop the support of any devise for data manipulation. Combining the two technologies is then easy, fast, and creates an impressive experience.

This release will include the source code* demonstrating how easy it can be to support both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift through the Open Inventor toolkit API. Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Open Inventor Team is uniquely qualified to provide this important new technology based on 30 years of experience providing high-quality, high-performance 3D rendering tools to application developers. Contact us for more information.

* The demonstration will consist in the entire source code that is necessary for Virtual Reality support. The developer will have full access to all VR functionalities and will be able to easily and quickly customize the application behavior to match his expectations and requirements.
